Ponting skips IPL

Ricky Ponting,the skipper of the Australian national team have decided to skip the 2nd edition of the IPL, over concern for his nation. His team's bad run in the recent times and his form made him take this decision. He was even rested for the New Zealand tour by the Australian board, which makes him worry a bit. But all for one cause, beating South Africa in their own soil. Skipping IPL will give him more time and rest and mental fitness to prepare for the big tour. Australian media and many former players have backed his decision to skip IPL, and appreciating him for the decision. Earlier Aussie vice captain M.Clarke skipped IPL for the same reason.
